Service Conditions
Last updated: 2026-05-04
These conditions apply to towing and vehicle transport services provided by Drive1 Towing Limited. They sit alongside the specific quote we agree with you and any conversation we have when we arrive on site. Specific commercial details such as payment methods, deposits, waiting fees and after-hours surcharges are not listed below — they are confirmed individually in your quote, not on this page.
1. Quotes
All pricing is quote-based. The figure we give you is based on the information you share with us — vehicle, location, condition, access and timing. The quote is valid only for that information and the time window we discuss. If something material changes before we arrive (the vehicle has moved, the situation is different, a different service is needed), we may need to update the quote.
2. On-site adjustments
If, when we arrive, the situation is different from what was described — for example the vehicle is stuck deeper than expected, the access is more restricted, or the vehicle's condition prevents the planned method of recovery — we will discuss any adjustment with you before continuing. You can decline to proceed if a revised price is not acceptable; in that case any work already required to safely make the site accessible may still be charged.
3. Customer authorisation
By engaging us you confirm that you are authorised to instruct us to move the vehicle (you are the owner, or you have permission from the owner, insurer, or property manager). If we are not sure that the person on site has the authority to release the vehicle, we may ask for additional confirmation before we load it.
4. What we can and cannot do
Our equipment can handle most cars, SUVs and light vans, including low-clearance and lowered vehicles using our flatbed. Some situations are outside our scope and may need a specialist or additional equipment — for example heavily damaged accident vehicles in awkward positions, vehicles in very tight underground carparks, or vehicles that cannot go into neutral or be steered when we have to manoeuvre them by hand. We will be straight with you if a job needs a different operator.
5. Operator discretion
Our driver may decline to proceed with any job that, in their professional judgement, cannot be carried out safely — for example because of unsafe access, weather, traffic, vehicle damage, or behaviour on site. Where this happens we will explain why and, where possible, suggest alternatives.
6. Risk and personal items
Vehicles are loaded and transported with reasonable care, including soft straps and (where appropriate) lie-flat flatbed handling to reduce the risk of further damage. Pre-existing damage and mechanical condition cannot always be assessed in roadside conditions and remains your responsibility. Please remove personal valuables before we leave the site; we are not responsible for items left in the vehicle.
7. Insurance and accident jobs
We can liaise with your insurer or repairer when you have asked us to. We are not your insurance broker; any cover, excess and approval remains a matter between you and your insurer. Where police or emergency services are present, we follow their instructions.
8. Cancellations and changes
If you need to cancel or change a booking, please tell us as soon as possible. If we have already dispatched a truck or travelled toward the site, a fee may apply; this is discussed in the original quote rather than fixed on this page.
9. Payment
Payment terms, accepted payment methods and any deposit are confirmed in your individual quote. We will be clear about cost before we start work.
10. Privacy
Information you give us when booking or sending an enquiry is handled under our Privacy Policy and the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.
11. Updates
We may update these conditions as our practices change. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent change.
